Tignanello 2019 – Toscana IGT Magnum 1.5l
Marchesi Antinori
- Grape Varieties: Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc.
- Training System: Spurred cordon.
- Soil: Limestone-rich soils with southwestern exposure.
- Altitude: 350–400 meters above sea level.
- Vine Age: Approximately 15–30 years.
- Harvest: Manual grape selection. The harvest began in the second half of September with Sangiovese and concluded on October 16 with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
- Vinification: Fermentation in temperature-controlled truncated conical tanks, with maceration on the skins to preserve aromas, extract color, and manage tannin elegance. Malolactic fermentation took place in barriques.
- Maturation: Aged for 14–16 months in French and Hungarian oak barrels, both new and second passage. After an initial separate aging process, the lots were blended and continued aging in wood. The wine then underwent an additional 12 months of bottle aging before release.
- Tasting Notes: Deep ruby red color. The nose offers exceptional complexity with notes of red fruits such as strawberries and pomegranate, followed by delicate aromas of apricots and peaches in syrup, elegant hints of vanilla, dried flowers, chocolate, and pleasant spicy sensations of nutmeg. The bouquet is completed by notes of coffee, caramel, and aromatic Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, it is graceful and mouth-filling, presenting silky, vibrant tannins that impart liveliness, sapidity, and a long-lasting finish. The aftertaste is characterized by roasted coffee and bitter chocolate notes.
- Alcohol Content: Approximately 14% ABV.
- Serving Temperature: 16–18°C.
- Food Pairing: Ideal with rich meat dishes, including roasts and braised meats, as well as game.
