Tignanello 2016 – Toscana IGT 750ml
Marchesi Antinori
- Grape Varieties: Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc.
- Training System: Spurred cordon.
- Soil: Limestone-rich soils with southwestern exposure.
- Altitude: 350–400 meters above sea level.
- Vine Age: Approximately 15–30 years.
- Harvest: Manual selection of grapes. The Sangiovese harvest began on September 23, followed by Cabernet Franc in late September and early October, and concluded with Cabernet Sauvignon from October 3 to 10.
- Vinification: Fermentation occurred in temperature-controlled truncated conical tanks, with careful maceration to preserve aromatic freshness, extract color, and manage tannin elegance. Malolactic fermentation took place in barriques, enhancing aromatic finesse and complexity.
- Maturation: The wine aged for approximately 14–16 months in French and Hungarian oak barrels, both new and second-fill. Each lot and grape variety were aged separately, with the final blend assembled a few months before bottling. The wine underwent an additional 12 months of bottle aging before release.
- Tasting Notes: Intense and bright ruby red color. The nose reveals notes of ripe red fruits combined with pleasant hints of fresh blackberry and wild berries. Delicate and perfectly integrated aromas of vanilla, dark chocolate, and light spices are also present. On the palate, the wine is vibrant, with silky and refined tannins. Balanced and intense, it has a long, complex, and persistent finish.
- Alcohol Content: Approximately 13.5% ABV.
- Serving Temperature: 16–18°C.
- Food Pairing: Ideal with rich meat dishes, including roasts and braised meats, as well as game.
