Marchesi Antinori
- Grape Varieties: 79% Sangiovese, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc.
- Training System: Spurred cordon.
- Soil: Marine marl from the Pliocene era, rich in limestone and schist.
- Altitude: 350–400 m above sea level.
- Vine Age: Approximately 15–30 years.
- Harvest: Manual, with meticulous grape selection. The harvest began in late September for Sangiovese and concluded in mid-October with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
- Vinification: Fermentation in temperature-controlled truncated conical tanks, with maceration on the skins for about 10–15 days. Malolactic fermentation took place in barriques.
- Maturation: Aged for approximately 15 months in French oak barriques, with a small portion in Hungarian oak, followed by an additional 12 months in bottle before release.
- Tasting Notes: Deep ruby red with purple highlights. The bouquet is complex and rich, offering aromas of ripe plum, blackberry, candied orange zest, dark chocolate, caramel, licorice, and hints of sweet tobacco. The palate is elegant, full-bodied, and intense, with velvety tannins leading to a long, lingering finish.
- Alcohol Content: 14.5% ABV.
- Serving Temperature: 16–18°C.
- Food Pairing: Pairs beautifully with grilled red meats, roasts, game dishes, and aged cheeses.
