Tenuta San Guido

  • Grape Varieties: 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc.

  • Training System: Spurred cordon.

  • Soil: Diverse and composite morphological characteristics, with calcareous areas rich in galestro, stones, and partially clayey soils.

  • Altitude: 80–400 meters above sea level, with west/southwest exposure.

  • Harvest: Ideal weather conditions in September, characterized by good weather, dry climate, and significant temperature variations between day and night, allowed for the perfect ripening of all grape varieties and harvesting at the optimal time.

  • Vinification: Fermentation in stainless steel at controlled temperatures around 30–31°C. Approximately two weeks of maceration on the skins, with various pump-overs and délestages. Malolactic fermentation in stainless steel.

  • Maturation: The wine was aged in French oak barriques for 24 months, followed by a period of bottle aging before release.

  • Tasting Notes: Sassicaia 2015 is a beautifully integrated wine with lovely depth and great length. On the nose, expansive red cherry fruits and wild berries mingle with notes of savory spice, Mediterranean herbs, and a hint of lavender. The palate is refreshing and elegant with layers of complexity. Succulent red cherry and sweet plum fruits and a note of delicate spice lead to an incredibly long finish with a refined mineral character. Multi-layered and intensely flavored, this is a vintage that will benefit from long aging

  • Alcohol Content: Approximately 14% ABV.

  • Serving Temperature: 16–18°C.

  • Food Pairing: Ideal with game and red meats.
